BLACKSBURG – The twelfth-ranked Virginia Tech lacrosse team is back home for the regular season finale versus in-state rival, No. 17 Virginia. The game will be contested in Lane Stadium, with first draw set for 1 p.m. Coverage will be available on ACC Network Extra.
Last time out, the Hokies were stifled by No. 2 and ACC Champion Boston College 9-7 Saturday, April 14. Meagh Graham kept the Hokies in it, making eight saves on the afternoon and coming up with four ground balls.
Marissa Davey and Paige Petty led the Hokies with two goals apiece, while Kelly Glatthorn provided one assist.
The defense held firm holding the Eagles to less than 13 goals for the first time all season. Leigh Lingo scooped up five ground balls and forced two turnovers.
Tech and the Cavaliers have played eight common opponents; Elon, James Madison, Syracuse, UNC, Duke, Notre Dame, Boston College, and Louisville. Both squads have identical 5-3 records losing to JMU, UNC and Boston College.
Virginia fell to the Dukes 15-10 on Wednesday evening at home.
On game day, fans can enter Lane Stadium through Gates 4 and 5 on the west side of the stadium, and are encouraged to sit in seats between Sections 8 and 14. Admission and parking are free.
The careers of eight seniors will be celebrated in a pregame ceremony; Marissa Davey, Carly Primo, Brittney VanVeldhuisen, Kristen Kohles, Kelly Glatthorn, Tristan McGinley, Meagh Graham and Emma Harden.
