Hokies move up in Inside Lacrosse Poll Monday

BLACKSBURG – Following a dramatic double overtime victory over Syracuse Saturday, Virginia Tech leapt up one spot to No. 13 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Poll Monday. Tech has been a fixture in the poll for the last four weeks, with the 13 spot being its highest ranking of 2018.

The Hokies are 11-4, matching the program record for most wins in a season, which the Hokies also reached a season ago. The four ACC wins is a program best, doubling last season’s mark of two.

On Saturday afternoon, Tech overcame a 4-goal deficit in the final 10 minutes of the second half, with Taylor Caskey’s goal with 89 seconds remaining sending the game into overtime.

After a scoreless six-minute overtime session, Tech won the draw control to start the second extra period and got the ball in the stick of Julia Bolte. The attacker found Tristan McGinley in the middle who fired home the game-winner.

Three of Tech’s four league wins in 2018 have come against programs it had never beaten previously; Notre Dame, Louisville and Syracuse.

The Hokies head to Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 14 to play the Boston College Eagles who sit at 14-0 and 4-0 in the ACC.

Last season, Tech defeated the Eagles 18-12 in the Indoor Practice Facility.
