BLACKSBURG - The seventeenth-ranked Virginia Tech lacrosse team (9-4, 2-1) travels to Louisville for an ACC contest Saturday afternoon from UofL Lacrosse Stadium. First draw is slated for 1 p.m. with coverage available through ACC Network Extra.
On Wednesday, Tech suffered its first ACC defeat of the season, falling to No. 5 North Carolina 13-12 in Chapel Hill. The Hokies trailed 6-4 going into halftime, but rallied to take a one-goal lead late in the second half. Olivia Ferrucci scored the game-winning goal with 96 seconds on the clock and the Heels won the ensuing draw control, bleeding out the clock.
Tristan McGinley and Emma Harden combined to score seven goals for Tech against the Heels. McGinley found the net four times while Harden tallied a hat-trick. Meagh Graham recorded eight saves in goal, while also causing two turnovers and scooping three ground balls.
Louisville (6-6, 0-3) enters the matchup on a three-game losing skid, including losses to Boston College, Robert Morris and Brown. The Cardinals’ last win came against Mercer on March 14th, when they defeated Mercer 21-14.
Freshman Caroline Blalock leads Louisville in points with 46 on the season and junior Tessa Chad has tallied 34 goals.
Two Hokies, Tristan McGinley and Paige Petty were included in Inside Lacrosse’s midseason All-Americans list released Thursday.

The Series – Virginia Tech is 0-5 against Louisville all-time in the series dating back to 2008. The Hokies and Cardinals have played every year since 2015 after Louisville joined the ACC.
Next up – The Hokies return home to Thompson Field for an ACC tilt against Syracuse on Saturday, April 7. The game will be covered on ACC Network Extra, with first draw set for 1 p.m.
