McGinley, Petty tabbed as midseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse

BLACKSBURG – Two Hokies, senior Tristan McGinley and freshman Paige Petty have been included in Inside Lacrosse’s midseason All-American list released Thursday morning.

McGinley led the Hokies against No. 5 North Carolina on Wednesday scoring four goals as the Hokies fell just short in a 13-12 thriller from Keenan Stadium.

On the season. The attacker from Moorestown, New Jersey has 36 points (34 goals) and 66 draw controls. She eclipsed the 100-goal mark in the Hokies’ game against Denver on March 7, becoming the 10th woman in program history to reach that plateau.

McGinley has had one of the most storied careers in Virginia Tech history, ranking in the top 10 in several statistical categories including goals, points and draw controls. A two-year captain, McGinley and the senior class has led Tech to the most ACC wins in a season in each of the last two campaigns.

Petty, a freshman from Bernardsville, New Jersey, has started all 12 games that she has played in this season, tallying 33 points including 28 goals. The midfielder has also contributed on the draw, grabbing 32 draw controls and collecting 17 groundballs.

Next up: Tech travels to Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, March 31 for an ACC matchup.

The Hokies and Cardinals are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
