Tech goes for fourth straight win Wednesday night

BLACKSBURG – The seventeenth-ranked Hokies lacrosse team is back at the Indoor Practice Facility on Wednesday when they take on the George Mason Patriots. First draw is set for 7 p.m.

Tech (3-2, 1-0) defeated Duke in the ACC opener on Saturday 17-14 behind Tristan McGinley’s five goals and five draw controls. Paige Petty added four goals and Meagh Graham made 10 saves in goal as the Hokies took down the Blue Devils in consecutive seasons.

The Hokies took advantage if its free position opportunities, converting 8 out of 10, while holding Duke to just 4 of 9 on such chances, in part due to Graham’s spectacular play.

George Mason (2-0, 0-0) owns wins over Monmouth and Longwood to open the season.

Lindsey Tangeman leads the Patriots in scoring with 11 points on the season from five goals and six assists.

THE SERIES: George Mason leads 10-6 in the all-time series dating back to 1995. Tech has won each of the last two meetings, with the matchup in 2017 going into overtime. The Hokies got a game-winning goal from Kristine Loscalzo 46 seconds into the extra period for the 11-10 victory.

NEXT UP: The Hokies will head west to take on the Colorado Buffaloes on Sunday, March 4th and the Denver Pioneers on Wednesday, March 7th.
