Lacrosse set to begin fall slate

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team is set to begin their fall season on Sunday at Moseley Practice Field against Radford and Winthrop. It will be the first chance for second year head coach John Sung to evaluate this year’s squad against opposition.

“We’re going to use this fall as preparation for the spring season ahead,” Sung said. “It will be good to get a chance to play against other schools and start to see what this team will look like. I’m looking forward to giving some kids a chance to get on the field and see what they can do.”

The 2018 squad returns 78 percent of its goal scoring firepower after setting the program record for goals in a season with 253. Tristan McGinley, who scored 50 goals in 2017 returns and as do Emma Harden (38), Zan Biedenharn (33) and Marissa Davey (32).

Meagh Graham returns in goal, a year after setting the program record for goals against average at 9.64 and earning a career-high 10 wins a season ago.
