BLACKSBURG- The No. 12 Virginia Tech lacrosse team fell to Louisville 13-12 in overtime Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. Kristine Loscalzo and Emma Harden each scored four goals for the Hokies who drop to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in ACC play. The Cardinals advance to 10-4 and 2-2.
Louisville opened the game with two quick goals coming from the nation’s leading goal-scorer Hannah Koloski and the second from Jillian Balog. Harden got Tech on the board with 26:56 to go in the half. The game didn’t feature any more goals until 15:53 when Harden put away her second of the afternoon. At the break, the score was level at 4-4.
Tech came out of the break and scored the first two goals of the period through Marissa Davey and Tristan McGinley. Down the stretch, each time Tech gained an advantage the Cardinals would answer back to tie it up. With 1:05 left in the game, Harden put the Hokies in the lead with her fourth goal of the game. After a won draw control, Louisville was able to tie the game through Elise Koehl and send the game into a sudden-victory overtime.
In the overtime period, the Cardinals won the opening draw and scored from its first possession 59 seconds in the period. The Hokies are 1-2 in 2017 in games contested in overtime.
Meagh Graham once again played a terrific game coming up with 10 saves and two ground balls. The defense allowed 32 total shots, while forcing 19 Louisville turnovers.
The game was won in the draw circle, where Louisville won 17 to Tech’s 10 draws. Koloski corralled seven and Meghan Siverson won six. The duo combined to score seven of Louisville’s goals and scored nine points on the afternoon.
Tristan McGinley scored two goals in the game and also recorded three draws and a ground ball. Zan Biedenharn accounted for the other Hokie goal, her 27th of the season.

Next up for the Hokies is trip to Syracuse, N.Y. for a match up with the Orange. First draw is slated for Sunday, April 9th at 1 p.m. The match is the first of three consecutive road contests to end the regular season.
