Tech welcomes Louisville for Senior Day
Hokies look to return to winning ways, celebrate four seniors

BLACKSBURG- The No. 12 Virginia Tech lacrosse team welcomes the Louisville Cardinals to Thompson Field on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match up. The game will be available on HokieVision Live. Four Tech seniors; Colleen Ward, Maddy Wollmuth, Kristine Loscalzo and Tara Feehan will be honored during a ceremony postgame.
The Hokies (11-3, 2-1)
Tech suffered its first ACC loss of the season on Tuesday when it fell to second ranked North Carolina 14-6 at the Indoor Practice Facility. The loss snapped a season-long five-game winning streak and broke the tie for first place in the conference with the Heels. Meagh Graham, the owner of the conference’s fourth best goals against average, made a season-high 14 saves in the loss.
Loscalzo continued her terrific run of form, scoring her fourth consecutive hat trick on Tuesday. The senior leads Tech with 40 goals on the season.
Emma Harden, Marissa Davey, Zan Biedenharn and Mary Claire Byrne all extended their own point scoring streaks by registering a single goal or assist each against Carolina.
Tech owns a 6-3 record at home this season.
The Cardinals (9-4, 1-2)
Louisville lost its last time out, a 12-8 contest against the Northwestern Wildcats. Hannah Koloski, the nation’s leading scorer led the team with four goals on Sunday in the loss. Koloski has scored 51 points on the year and is joined in the attack by Meghan Siverson who has 41 goals. Between the posts, Brittany Read owns a 9-3 record and a 8.82 goals against average.
Louisville is 2-4 in road contests this season.
The Series
Virginia Tech has never defeated Louisville on the lacrosse field in four meetings all-time. Last season in Louisville, Ky. the Cardinals won by a score of 15-9. Biedenharn and Amanda Uliano each scored a goal and Feehan provided one assist on the afternoon.
The Hokies and Cardinals have played two common opponents in 2017; Duke and Boston College. Tech defeated both opponents, while Louisville beat Duke and fell at Boston College.
Next up: The Hokies hit the road for a clash at Syracuse on Sunday at 1 p.m. The team’s final three regular season games will be contested on the road.
