Hokies conclude three-game road trip at Delaware
Tech looks to stay undefeated on the road in 2017

BLACKSBURG- The Virginia Tech lacrosse team travels to Newark, Del. for a noon match against the Delaware Blue Hens. The match is the last of three consecutive road contests for the Hokies, who return home to Thompson Field on March 18.
The Hokies (8-2, 2-0)
Tech won its second consecutive game on Wednesday, a 11-10 overtime contest at George Mason on Wednesday night. The Hokies trailed 7-4 at the halftime intermission before a five-goal barrage that saw them take the lead in the second period. Mason tied the game up with just 54 seconds left on the clock forcing the extra session. In overtime the Hokies netted the game winner through Kristine Loscalzo 46 seconds in to earn the team’s eighth victory of the season.
Tristan McGinley once again led the Hokies with four goals on the night, bringing her season tally to 32. The junior leads the nation in goals in 2017.
Loscalzo added two goals and Emma Harden contributed a goal and two assists for the Hokies. Kelly Glatthorn grabbed four draw controls and three groundballs and Mary Claire Byrne caused three of Delaware’s 21 turnovers in the midfield.
The Blue Hens (3-2, 0-0)
Delaware defeated Monmouth 19-9 last time out. The Blue Hens are led by Becky Gohsler’s 16 goals on the season. Kirsten Hale and Christine Long have each contributed nine goals.
The Series
Virginia Tech is 1-3 all-time against Delaware. The last game in the series was played during the 2014 season, a 17-3 Delaware victory. The Hokies are 0-2 when playing the Blue Hens in Newark.
Next up: The Hokies return home for a clash on Saturday afternoon with the William and Mary Tribe. First draw is slated for 1 p.m.
