BLACKSBURG- The Virginia Tech women’s lacrosse team announced its fall schedule Tuesday, with the Hokies slated to play in two games and three tournaments in preparation for the spring season.
“This fall we are trying to introduce a totally new system on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball,” said head coach John Sung. “The tempo is different and the style of play will be completely different to the Virginia Tech teams from the past. With the addition to the shot clock, the game should be more exciting and should really help us create our tempo on both sides of the ball. Our fall schedule will allow us to see teams at all different levels and give us the information that we will need to be successful this spring.”
Fall ball kicks off on Sept. 21 as the Hokies host Radford at Thompson Field’s turf practice field at 6:45 p.m. The Hokies will travel to High Point University on Oct. 2. The Panther’s Fall Play Day features games against Coastal Carolina and Campbell.
Tech returns to Blacksburg for the VT Fall Play Day against Furman (9 a.m.), Longwood (11 a.m.) and Davidson (2 p.m.).
On Oct. 15, the Hokies travel to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy Lacrosse Fall Invitational versus Vanderbilt, Drexel, St. Joseph’s and Towson. Virginia Tech will conclude the fall season with a game at Duke on Oct. 23. The time is to be announced.
