GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech senior Meghan Macera was named to the All-ACC Academic Women's Lacrosse Team for the third time in her career, as announced Monday by Commissioner John Swofford.

All eight of the league's women's lacrosse programs are represented on the All-ACC Academic Team, led by Syracuse with seven selections. Duke and North Carolina each placed six on the team, Notre Dame had five and Louisville had four, while Boston College and Virginia each had three, and Virginia Tech one.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Syracuse's Kayla Treanor was named the 2016 ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.

Macera was also recently named to the VaSID All-State Second Team and was also selected for the IWLCA North-South All-Star game. Macera started all 18 games for the Hokies this season and ranked second on the team with 28 goals while adding four assists. She finished second on the team with 32 total points. She also ranked 14^th in the country and second in the ACC in caused turnovers per game at 2.18 and 48^th in the nation and third in the ACC in ground balls per game at 2.41. Macera had a team-high 57 draw controls, 39 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls.
