GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team will be the No. 8 seed in the 2016 ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship and will face No. 1 seed North Carolina at noon on Thursday in Lane Stadium.
The Hokies, the host of the 2016 ACC Championship, and Tar Heels played in Chapel Hill, N.C. on March 30 and UNC won 15-6. The Tar Heels went 13-2 overall and 7-0 in conference. They are currently ranked No. 3 in the latest IWLCA poll. Virginia Tech concluded the regular-season with a record of 5-12 overall and 0-7 in the ACC.
Other quarterfinal matchups include No. 2 seed Syracuse (13-4, 5-2 ACC) playing No. 7 seed Boston College (10-7, 2-5 ACC), No. 3 Notre Dame (11-5, 4-3 ACC) against No. 6 Louisville (11-4, 3-4 ACC) and No. 4 Duke (9-7, 4-3 ACC) taking on No. 5 Virginia (9-7, 3-4 ACC).
The four winners will meet in the semifinals on Friday, April 29 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and the ACC Championship title game is set for Sunday, May 1 at 1 p.m. All games are set to be played in Lane Stadium and will be televised on the ACC’s Regional Sports Networks (RSN) as well as ESPN3.
Adult tickets to all sessions of the tournament are $15 while students and seniors are $10. Individual sessions are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
