The Hokies return home this weekend for their final Friday-Sunday weekend of the season. Tech will host Old Dominion Friday afternoon before its first ever meeting with Gardner-Webb. Both games have been moved to Moseley Field, the turf surface behind Thompson Field, due to the winter weather. The Hokies are coming off of a 10-6 win and Coastal Carolina last weekend, while Old Dominion will arrive in Blacksburg with a 3-0 record. The Lady Monarchs recently defeated Longwood in their first home game of the year, 19-7. They have also played Tech's other weekend opponent, Garnder-Webb, and won 22-1.
THE SERIES
The Hokies are 6-2 all-time against the Lady Monarchs. The two teams have met every year since 2009, and met for the first time in 1996. Tech pulled off an 18-17 victory last year in Norfolk and Megan Will led the way with four goals, including the 100th of her career. The Hokies are 3-1 all-time against Old Dominion at home.
LAST TIME OUT
Tech traveled south last weekend for a pair of games, beginning the weekend at High Point and later wrapping things up at Coastal Carolina. The Hokies split the pair of 10-6 outcomes, falling to the Panthers and knocking off the Chanticleers.
Senior Megan Will continued her hat trick streak after scoring three goals at High Point and tacking on four more at Coastal. Will came alive in the second half against the Chanticleers, scoring three straight goals to distance the Hokies and then tacking on a fourth to end a late run by Coastal.
RECORD WATCH
Meg Bartley set a new single-season draws record for the Hokies last season, winning 90 during her junior campaign. She is also working her way to the top of the all-time list (245), currently sitting in second with 223 draws to date. Meghan Macera recently joined Bartley on the all-time draws list, as she has won 94 so far, good for eighth.
Megan Will is also climbing the all-time charts at Tech, chasing her cousin, Dawn Will, who sits atop the career goals and points lists. Megan currently ranks fourth with 137 career goals and third with 177 career points. She is also ninth all-time at Tech with 40 career assists.
Will is one of just three players to rank among the all-time top 10 in all three offensive categories (Allie Emala 08-11, Catherine Augustyn 96-99).
SCORING AT WILL
Senior Megan Will is currently in the midst of a nine-game scoring streak that dates back to last season. The Bel Air, Maryland native entered the week as the leader in scoring (17) and points (21) in the ACC
Will has scored at least three goals in every game so far this season, and in each of the games in the streak, as she climbs all three all-time offensive stat lists at Tech.
