Two Hokies named to All-ACC Academic team
Bromley, Macera honored

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Cawley Bromley and sophomore Meghan Macera of the Virginia Tech lacrosse team were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Academic Team, as announced Monday by Commissioner John Swofford. This is the first of such honors for Bromley and the second for Macera. Syracuse senior Alyssa Murray has been named the 2014 ACC Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Bromley appeared in 16 games this season, making three starts. She finished her most productive year yet with 10 goals and seven assists on the season, including back-to-back four-point games midway through the season. She helped the Hokies to a much-needed road at William & Mary with three goals and an assist, then turned around to put up two goals and two assists against Coastal Carolina. A native of Cary, North Carolina, Bromley is majoring in human development with plans to work in elementary education.

Macera started all 17 games for Tech this season. The sophomore finished the year second on the team in draw controls (49) and ground balls (36). She also gave the Hokies a great push on the offensive end, adding 20 goals and four assists on the season. Macera scored in each of Tech’s first five games and 13 of its 17 on the season. The Art major and Westminster, Maryland, native was also the recipient of the team’s Strength & Conditioning Award this postseason.
