BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech athletic department and head lacrosse coach Megan Burker have announced the hiring of new assistant coach Liz Hogan. Hogan joins the Hokies after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Colgate.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Liz join our program,” Burker said of her new assistant. “There is no doubt she is dedicated to pushing our program to the next level. Her work ethic and passion for lacrosse will set a tone for the next chapter of Virginia Tech lacrosse.”

Hogan, a current member of the US National Team, worked exclusively with the goalkeepers in her first season at Colgate and saw great improvement on the national and conference level. In her second season, her responsibilities increased as she also coordinated the offense in the absence of the head coach, having more in-game decision-making and strategy duties while also handling the team travel plans, video responsibilities and recruiting evaluations.

Hogan arrived at Colgate after a stellar career at Syracuse, where she went 52-23 in goal. She was a four-year starter for Gary Gait and was named BIG EAST Defender of the Year, was a first team IWLCA All-American in 2010 and was selected to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. She was named Goalkeeper of the Year by the IWLCA and Womenslax.com following that season as well.

A two-time team captain with the Orange, Hogan helped Syracuse win three BIG EAST Regular Season titles (2008, 2009, 2010) and one BIG EAST tournament championship in 2008, while making two NCAA Final Four appearances (2008, 2010) through her career.
