Scouting James Madison
James Madison enters the midweek game at 1-0 on the year after topping California at home 11-5 in its season opener. The Dukes outscored their opponent 8-3 in the second half to earn the victory.
Casey Ancarrow, who finished last season second on the team in scoring (34) and points (43,) helped lead the team with four goals, while Steph Finley also put away four goals, nearly matching her total of five from a year ago.
Schylar Healy got the season-opening win, making a career-high 14 saves. She finished last season with an 8-4 record and a .437 save percentage.

Notes: Tech took the last meeting at Mt. St. Mary’s last season, 12-5 ... That was the fewest goals Tech has scored in the series and the smallest margin of victory ... The bigest win came in the first meeting, 20-5, in 1996.
Scouting Mount St. Mary’s
The Mount enters the week at 0-3 on the year and will not play a midweek game before arriving in Blacksburg on Saturday. Most recently, Mount St. Mary’s fell at Columbia 15-4, and have yet to play a game at home.
Kaitlyn Larrimore leads the team so far with four goals on the year, while Hannah Gutcher has also tallied four points on the year. Gabe Little leads the defensive unit with 12 ground balls this season.
Sarah Jane Leder has a .529 save percentage this year and has started all three games. Leder has made 36 saves in her 120 minutes in cage.
Last Time Out
The Hokies righted the ship last week, bringing home two victories as they wrapped up a four-game road stretch that opened the season. Tech began the week of play with its first midweek game of 2013, at Davidson. The Hokies walked away with the 12-8 win. Senior Julia Heaps helped lead the attack with five points, by way of three assists and two goals, while sophomore Megan Will set a new career best with five points as well (4g, 1 a).
Tech kept things rolling with a thrashing of Coastal Carolina, 18-8. It was a true team effort for the squad as all 31 players checked into the game. While senior Brooke Martin led the charge with four goals, and Will added three of her own, the Hokies saw a great effort from junior Kelly Naslonski and sophomore Cawley Bromley. Naslonski put away two goals and assisted two more, while Bromley added a goal and two assists.
Bartley, an Unexpected Surprise
Sophomore Meg Bartley walked on to the Tech lacrosse team in the Fall of 2011 and as the 2012 season began she made a quick and efficient impact. The Lewes, Del., native earned a starting job on attack by the fifth game, after scoring four goals and assisting another against UC Davis at home.
Bartley has been a huge threat for the Hokies on the draw and currently leads the conference averaging 5.25 draws per game. She also leads the team, having one 21 on the year.
Fresh Meat
Freshman Jessi Thon earend a starting spot to begin her collegiate career and has made an impact for the Hokies early. She currently leads the ACC averaging 3.00 ground balls per game.
Joining her in the starting line up has been claasmate Meghan Macera, who ranks fourth in the fourth in the league averaging 3.00 draw per game.
