Scouting Davidson
This will be the first game of the 2013 season for the Wildcats. They are coming off an 8-10 record in 2012 and return nine starters from last year’s team.
Leading the team in points last season was Ann Fucigna. She tallied 74 points by way of 51 goals and 23 assists. On the defensive end, the Wildcats return Abigail Doelger who finished the year with 32 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers.
In cage for Davidson will likely be Jessica Melby, who finished last year with a .427 save percentage and a 7-10 record.

Scouting Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers enter the weekend at 0-2 on the season, falling to Cincinnati, 13-8, and Marquette, 12-11 in overtime. The match up against the Hokies will be the third of four straight home games to open the season for Coastal.
Through the first couple games, Keri White leads the way early with six goals on the year, while Charlotte O’Leary has five goals and two assists. Lily Yednock has caused six turnovers and picked up nine ground balls on the year.
In goal for the Chanticleers has been Trista Kuehn, who has a .387 save percentage, making 12 saves so far this year.
Last Time Out
The Hokies suffered their second straight loss last Friday, falling at High Point, 9-5. Libby Rosebro led the offense for Tech with two goals, while Julie Heaps, Brooke Martin and Cawley Bromley all scored as well. Freshman Jessi Thon earned the first point of her career assisting Martin’s goal.
Alex Gale made a lot of key stops for the Hokies in cage, finishing the game with 11 saves.
Gale in Goal
Senior goalie Alex Gale has been the primary starter in cage since her arrival in 2010. Her 310 career saves lands her in fifth place all-time Tech. Gale finished 2012 with 90 saves and a 10-7 record.
Gale currently sits atop the ACC averaging 4.5 ground balls and 11.50 saves per game. She also ranks third in the league with a .469 save percentage.
