BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech women’s lacrosse head coach Megan Burker has announced that assistant coach Lindsay Lewis has been promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach for the Hokies. Lewis’ duties at Virginia Tech include serving as recruiting coordinator and running the offense for the Hokies.

“Over the past two seasons, Lindsay has helped to create a competitive and exciting environment within our program,” Burker said. “I trust her to make the right decisions in any area concerning the team, and owe much of our success to the dedication she has given to our vision for Virginia Tech Lacrosse. She is more than deserving of this promotion, and I look forward to our continued success.”

Lewis joined the Virginia Tech staff in 2011, working primarily with the midfield. Since Lewis joined the staff, the Hokies have posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in program history. Tech has a record of 20-15 over that span and have claimed victories over No. 16 Boston College in 2011 and No. 7 Virginia in 2012. The win over the Cavaliers was Tech’s first-ever over a top 5 team and the first-ever against Virginia.

Lewis was as an assistant coach at James Madison University from 2006-2009 before taking on recruiting, video and travel arrangements responsibilities as an assistant at George Washington in 2010. The former Boston University standout has remained in the game beyond her coaching experience since ending her college career, playing competitively with the United States’ Developmental Lacrosse Team, a team that also featured current Virginia Tech head coach Megan Burker. Lewis served as a team captain every year she was with the program.

As a player, Lewis was a four-year starter at BU, as well as a four-time All-America East selection and All-America. The All-American graduated as the Terriers’ all-time scoring leader with 187 goals in her career. Lewis also ranks among the program’s all-time best in points (232) and draw controls (132). Lewis also helped guided BU to three America East championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a quarterfinal run in 2005. Lewis, a Glenelg, Md., native received a bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration in 2006 from Boston University.
