GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior attack Allie Emala has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. Eleven 2011 Tewaaraton Trophy candidates highlight the 18-member squad, while Maryland led the way with six honorees, including the lone underclassman.

Emala has posted career-best offensive numbers this season as she leads the team in scoring (40), points (56) and draw controls (58). The two-year team captain has led the team in scoring in eight games this season and is currently in the midst of a 22-game scoring streak that dates back to the 2010 season.

The Baltimore, Md., native set a new draw controls record at Tech last year and has upped her career total to 246 this year. With the help of her senior-season production, Emala has also propelled herself to second all-time at Tech with 135 career goals and 184 career points, as she becomes just the third Hokie to earn All-ACC team honors.

Emala and the Hokies will begin play in the ACC Tournament Thursday, April 21 as they take on Boston College at 5 p.m., at WakeMed Park in Cary, N.C.
