Lax Blog - Super Bowl Weekend with Christina Patten
Lacrosse: Behind The Scenes

This past weekend my sister Kimberly and I were given the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl in New Orleans and as 49ers fans we were very excited! We flew out of Roanoke early Friday morning and met our parents and older brother. When we arrived in New Orleans we were greeted and given beads by Nola natives! The weekend turned out to be a blast we walked on Bourbon Street and on Saturday night we went to an event called the Taste of the NFL. This event had booths that had restaurants representing each city of every team in the NFL. The food was phenomenal and it was so great to try different food from different cities, although I did stay away from the Baltimore booth!

The Super Bowl was such an amazing game, besides the ending. My family and I are big football fans and loved watching this game. These are two great teams and the fact that the Harbaugh brothers are their coaches made it even better! Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Beyonce/ Destiny’s Child are some of my favorite singers and ones that I have never seen perform in person! I absolutely loved being able to watch them perform and also be a part of the half time show. Everyone in the stands were given two blue small flashlights you wear on one of your hands and they told us beforehand what hand motions we were supposed to do for ‘Single Ladies’ and ‘Halo.’ It was so much fun and I enjoyed every minute of it with my family!

Although the 49ers did not win, I am so thankful that we were able to go! Being there and seeing two great teams compete and play against each other, made me so incredibly pumped for our own lacrosse season to begin! Our first game is this Friday against Duke. Having a small break this weekend has made me geared up and ready to start off this season with a win!
