The Hokie lacrosse team was welcomed back to Blacksburg by a January snowstorm to begin preseason training- because it wouldn’t be lacrosse season without inclement weather. Friday morning at breakfast, everyone was excited to catch-up with teammates and get in the swing of things. While the morning's run test had to be postponed due to the snow, the team had stick work testing in the racquetball room (known to us as the wall-ball room). Next, we ate lunch and rested up for the 300s run test.
After anxiously waiting (or for some of us napping) until the afternoon, we returned to find a team of semi-professional snow removers (aka our coaching staff) working to clear the practice field. With help from the actual team and some more qualified workers, we were able to expose enough turf to do the run test. Under blue skies, the focused team came out with a lot of energy and crushed the running. With wall ball testing and the 300s out of the way, we were all excited to finally get out to practice the next day.
We ended the day with a lovely dinner at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The food was almost as inspiring as the guest speakers who happened to be members of our own team. They all did a great job getting our minds ready for the up-coming weeks of hard work.
