JOSH BOST

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL VIDEO AND TECHNOLOGY

Josh Bost enters his second season as the director of football video and technology. In his position, he manages

all facets of the football video department. That includes the Hokies’ new virtual reality technology, a nearly $100,000

investment that serves as a teaching tool for Tech’s players.

Bost’s list of duties also includes budgeting, ordering, researching, and maintaining the Hokies’ XOS Technology, a

system utilized by many NFL teams and one that gives the coaching staff a wealth of information in a matter of seconds.

In addition, Bost and his staff coordinate, record, and edit all video from practices, games, opponent’s games and

recruiting for each coach to review and breakdown. Bost came to Virginia Tech from Memphis, where he had worked

on Justin Fuente’s staff as the video coordinator since August 2013.

Prior to working at Memphis, Bost worked at North Texas for nine years as the director of video operations. He

graduated from Middle Tennessee State in 2003 and worked in that office as both a student and graduate assistant

before moving to North Texas.

Bost and wife Holly have two children – a son, Micah, and a daughter, Lizzie.

DIRECTOR OF EQUIPMENT SERVICES

Erik Lewis is in his fourth year working in the Virginia Tech equipment room and serves as the director of equipment

services. In addition to outfitting the Hokies, he plays a key role facilitating and maintaining the department’s relationship

with Nike.

Prior to joining the Virginia Tech staff in 2014, Lewis spent 10 years in the equipment room at East Carolina. Before

landing at ECU, Lewis was a student at Marshall and worked as a student manager in the equipment room all four years.

Lewis graduated from Marshall in 2002 with a degree in sports management and marketing. He earned Athletic

Equipment Managers Association certification in June of 2003 and was named the organization’s District III Equipment

Manager of the Year in 2013. His department was also recognized in 2008 as Conference USA’s Equipment Staff of

the Year.

The Hurricane, West Virginia native is married to the former Shannon St. George, and they are the parents of two

daughters, Gwen and Merryn.

SAM N I CHOLS

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, EQUIPMENT SERVICES

Sam Nichols enters his third season working with the Virginia Tech football program in 2017.

The Norwood, North Carolina native spent four and a half years in the equipment room at Florida Atlantic University

before coming to Tech in 2015. He worked for two years as an assistant director and then spent the final two and a half

years as the director of equipment operations. He oversaw all equipment and apparel acquisition for FAU’s 21 sport

programs, and he played a key role facilitating and maintaining the department’s relationship with Adidas.

Prior to FAU, Nichols was a graduate assistant equipment manager at Illinois State University for one year. He

graduated from North Carolina State with a degree in sport management in 2010 and earned a master’s in sport

management from Texas A&M in 2015. He has been certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association since

June 2010. He resides in Blacksburg.
