CHUCK CANTOR

DIRECTOR, PLAYER PERSONNEL

Chuck Cantor is in his fourth year as the director for player personnel for Virginia Tech football program, as he oversees all aspects of the

football recruiting process – from official and unofficial visits to academic eligibility of prospects to social media and camps.

Cantor came to Virginia Tech following a year at Temple University as the coordinator of external operations/on-campus recruiting coordinator.

Cantor worked at LIU-C.W. Post as the receivers coach in 2013, and prior to that, he worked as an offensive graduate assistant at Middle

Tennessee State in 2012. From 2008-11, he worked at Georgia with head coach Mark Richt as an assistant athletic recruiting coordinator,

where he was an integral part of the recruiting efforts that landed Georgia’s “Dream Team” recruiting class of 2011 considered by many to be

the top recruiting class in the country.

In 2007, Cantor served as a recruiting assistant at Rutgers under then-head coach Greg Schiano for a year. Prior to that, he worked at his alma

mater – Florida State – as a graduate assistant. Cantor, a native of New Hyde Park, N.Y., graduated from Florida State in 2006 with a degree in social science education

and sport management and earned his master’s from Florida State in 2011 (sport management).

ADAM L ECHTENBERG

DIRECTOR, PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

Adam Lechtenberg joined the Virginia Tech staff as director of player development in March 2017. In that role, the Butte, Nebraska native will work

closely with head coach Justin Fuente, senior director of football operations Danielle Bartelstein and the entire Hokies’ football staff.

During his tenure working with Fuente at Memphis from 2012-15, Lechtenberg served as director of player personnel, and he managed many

aspects of the evaluation and recruiting process. In addition, he acted as a liaison between the football program and academics, admissions and

housing, while overseeing the Tigers’ walk-on program that made a substantial impact on the on-field turnaround at Memphis under Fuente. In

total, 11 of his walk-ons eventually earned scholarships at Memphis, while 23 made major contributions.

Lechtenberg spent the 2016 season as passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach at the University of Tennesee at Martin. In addition to

his on-field coaching duties, his recruiting territory included Alabama, Tennessee and junior colleges.

A former football student-athlete at the University of Nebraska, he began his coaching career as an offensive graduate assistant working with Fuente from 2007-09. He

spent the 2010-11 seasons as co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Central Connecticut State.

He and his wife Kristy have a daughter Madison.

THOMAS GUERRY

DIRECTOR, RECRUITING OPERATIONS

Thomas Guerry enters his fourth year with the Hokies, enhancing Virginia Tech’s recruiting efforts. Among many other responsibilities, he has

taken the lead on improving the Hokies’ digital media and graphic design presence within recruiting (@HokiesFB). Guerry also plans official

and unofficial visits, assists with Justin Fuente Football Camps throughout the summer and monitors day-to-day operations within the recruiting

department.

Guerry came to Virginia Tech from Georgia, where he worked in football operations for the University of Georgia Athletic Association starting in

2010. He also assisted with recruiting visits, character education and helped start the UGA Football Mentor Program.

In 2011, Guerry was promoted to football recruiting assistant and served in that position for three years. He quickly made a name for himself

within the recruiting industry by piecing together four straight top 10 recruiting classes. In that role, Guerry oversaw all official and unofficial visits,

junior days, Mark Richt 7-on-7 Camps and academic eligibility for prospects.

The Canton, Mississippi native graduated from Mississippi State in 2008 with a degree in business administration and earned his master’s from Mississippi State in 2010

(M.B.A. with a minor in sport administration).

Guerry and his wife Amanda reside in Blacksburg.

MAT T TRANSUE

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, PLAYER PERSONNEL & RECRUITING

Matt Transue is in his second year on the Virginia Tech football staff, serving as the assistant director of player personnel and recruiting.

Transue is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Hokies’ recruiting department. This includes managing databases,

overseeing student workers and volunteers, taking care of administrative duties, assisting with content for the program’s social media channels,

and other general duties as assigned.

He also serves as the team’s pro liaison to the NFL. Transue worked with Fuente and many members of his staff as a recruiting volunteer at

the University of Memphis during the 2015 season.

While in Memphis, he also worked as an account executive in the ticket office of the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St.

Louis Cardinals. The Brentwood, Calif., native, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, with an undergraduate degree and a master’s

degree in recreation and sport management. While at Tennessee, he served as a student assistant, and later a graduate assistant, in the football recruiting/operations

area from 2011-15.

JOHN I EZZ I

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, PLAYER PERSONNEL

John Iezzi (pronounced YET-zee) enters his first season working on a full-time basis in player personnel for the Hokies. He has served has a

graduate assistant since June 2015 after working as a student recruiting assistant during his senior year at Tech.

He is responsible for Tech’s prospect database, hosting and planning official/unofficial visits, producing recruiting materials and assisting with

social media efforts.

During his time as an undergraduate, he worked as a baseball agent for Caradonna Sports and Entertainment for three years, a grassroots

firm that he founded with two other individuals to assist in the representation of 11 minor league baseball players.

The Richmond, Virginia native is a graduate of Deep Run High School and earned a degree for Tech in finance in 2015.
