2 0 0 4 ACC COACH OF THE YEAR

HONOR

It came as little surprise that, the week after the

Miami game, Tech coach Frank Beamer earned

the ACC’s Coach of the Year honor. It also came

as little surprise that he received

SI.com’

s national

Coach of the Year honor. He deserved it. But while

the awards reflect on him, they also reflect on his

staff. Truthfully, they did their best coaching job this

season.

Dec. 17, 2004 issue.

TECH RETIRES

FRANK BEAMER’S

NO . 2 5 JERSEY

“I’m certainly not the athlete the rest of those guys

hanging up there are. But this place has been

special…for me. It’s been a dream to be in this

position. It’s a real honor for me.”

—Frank Beamer, hokiesports the newspaper,

Sept. 20, 2002 issue

“I REMEMBER HIM SITTING ON MY

COUCH, THE SMILE HE HAD ON HIS

FACE, THE ENTHUSIASM AND HIM

REALLY IMPRESSING MY MOM WITH HIS

DELIVERY. THAT WAS SPECIAL BECAUSE

HE MADE HER SMILE AND MADE ME

BELIEVE THAT HE WANTED ME IN THAT

MOMENT, AND FOR HIM TO TAKE HIS

TIME TO COME DOWN THERE WAS

REALLY A SPECIAL MOMENT.”

- FORMER VIRGINIA TECH QB

MICHAEL VICK

“WHEN PEOPLE THINK OF HOKIE

FOOTBALL, THEY THINK OF FRANK

BEAMER. IT WAS AN HONOR TO

HAVE COMPETED AGAINST YOU AND

I WANT TO WISH YOU AND YOUR

WIFE, CHERYL, AND YOUR CHILDREN

AND GRANDCHILDREN ALL THE BEST

DURING YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE.

CONGRATULATIONS.”
