Mulherin named ACC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week

Redshirt senior led the No. 21 Hokies to a sixth-place finish Saturday at Pre-Nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech redshirt senior Will Mulherin has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week as announced by the conference office today.

Mulherin led Virginia Tech to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Pre-Nationals held Saturday in Louisville, Ky. The Yorktown, Va., native finished sixth individually with an 8K time of 23:20.5, which was just over a second behind his career-best that he posted at the 2011 ACC Championships. This marks the first time in his career that the 2011 All-American has earned the weekly honor.

Mulherin and the Hokies will be back in action on Oct. 27 as Virginia Tech hosts the 2012 ACC Championships at the Tech Cross Country Course.
