BLACKSBURG, Va. – Three Virginia Tech student-athletes were named to the 2010 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Junior Sammy Dow (Midlothian, Va., Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise major) was named to the women’s team, while junior Jason Cusack (Griswold, Conn., Industrial Design major) and senior Chris Walizer (Hershey, Pa., Finance major) were named to the men’s team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. Twenty-eight student-athletes were honored on the women’s team and 24 on the men’s. Florida State’s Jennifer Dunn was named the 2010 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Women’s Cross Country, while Duke’s Bo Waggoner earned the men’s award.
