In addition, the coaching members of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) awarded him the NCAA Golf Coach of the Year for District III- North for the 1993-94 season. He also received the inaugural Virginia Collegiate Coach of the Year award in 1993 and was selected for the same honor again in 1994, 2001, 2013 and 2014. In the spirit of Virginia Tech’s motto “ Ut Prosim ” (that I may serve), Hardwick has always believed in giving back to the game and volunteering his time. In 2016 Hardwick was appointed to a six-year term on the All-American Committee where he is involved with the Jack Nicklaus Award, the Ben Hogan Award, and the Palmer Cup Team, as well as the selection of the All-Region and All-American teams. He currently serves on the Ben Hogan Award Committee and was chairman of the Jack Nicklaus Award Committee last year. He is a past vice president of the Virginia Chapter of the Middle Atlantic PGA, having also served on the tournament rules and regulations committee, the membership committee, and the employment and club relations committee. He has been a head professional for 45 years and is a Class “A” Member, Quarter Century Club Member and Life Member of the PGA of America. Hardwick was elected president of the BIG EAST Golf Coaches Association for the 2003-04 season and served on the NCAA Golf 2009 State Senior Open of Virginia Champion
